Welcome

Data Research Lab (DAR) (image: our logo), an initiative aimed at providing comprehensive datasets related to Pakistan to facilitate research and promote knowledge exchange.

Our mission is to create and compile contextual data on Pakistan that can be utilized by scholars, researchers, and students across various disciplines. We aspire to cultivate a culture of data-driven research, where information is sourced, analyzed, and interpreted in a meaningful and relevant manner.

Pakistan boasts a rich cultural heritage, intricate socio-political dynamics, and a diverse demographic composition. However, the availability of contextual data on various aspects of Pakistan is often limited, leading to gaps in understanding and knowledge. We endeavor to bridge this gap by developing a comprehensive and inclusive dataset accessible to all.

We firmly believe that data serves as a tool for empowerment, and we aspire our efforts to contribute to the decolonization of data and knowledge production. By furnishing contextual data on Pakistan, we aim to foster critical thinking, evidence-based decision-making, and inclusive research practices.

We are dedicated to gathering, verifying, and organizing data on various facets of Pakistan, including demographics, education, health, economics, and politics. Our data sources are diverse, encompassing primary and secondary sources such as surveys, government reports, academic publications, and news articles.

We extend an invitation to scholars, researchers, and students to utilize our dataset for their research endeavors and to contribute to knowledge production about Pakistan. Additionally, we welcome feedback and suggestions on how to enhance our dataset and services.

Join us in our mission to promote a culture of data-driven research and knowledge exchange at the Data Research Lab.

Name

DAR (در) is a Persian word (also used in Urdu) for the door. We chose this name with the hope that our effort will open the door to the decolonization of data.
